Horse Tendons

Tendon, muscle, and ligament injuries are a common problem in sport horses. When a tendon injury is diagnosed, a tendon supplement for horses provides extra support during the recovery process. Tendons form the connection between muscles and bones and ensure that muscle activity is transferred to the bone. A tendon consists of numerous tendon fibers. A ligament also consists of connective tissue fibers and has the function of stabilizing a joint. Tendons and ligaments have very little blood flow compared to a muscle. Due to this poor blood supply, nutrients and waste products are added and removed more slowly, so that recovery is slower. The severity of the injury can vary widely, from just a few damaged fibers to a complete tendon rupture. Early detection of tendon injuries reduces the risk of serious injury. That is why it is very important to regularly check your horse’s legs for heat, swelling, and pain.
